Next month sees the start of the fourth London Restaurant Festival, which is developing into a must for people visiting the capital.
The annual event begins on October 1st and brings together many of the city’s top restaurants and chefs in a number of events designed to showcase the wide variety of food on offer in London.
Many of the 800 establishments involved produce special festival menus that will appeal to foodies staying in central London hotels this autumn.
Champagne Laurent-Perrier is the official champagne sponsor of the London Restaurant Festival 2012 for the second year running and is hosting a special champagne reception.
There are also special Gourmet Odyssey tours on offer during the festival. These unique road trips are themed by style of restaurant and diners enjoy a starter in one restaurant, main course in another and dessert in a third.
The event also involves the London Restaurant Festival Awards, which are handed out at a special event at Old Spitalfields Market on October 15th.
There are a total of eight different awards and four are for the best festival menus. Separated into price categories, the awards are decided by the number of bookings divided by the number of covers offered.
A new event for the 2012 London Restaurant Festival is Graze. Focused on a set number of streets in the city – Exmouth Market, Bermondsey Street, Marylebone High Street, Charlotte Street, Brixton Village and Soho – each will have its own festival day. People can also apply for a special Graze key ring which entitles them to a free glass of wine when they pay for a dish in a participating restaurant on the street.
