Boris Johnson gives his tips for a day out in London

The chances of being stuck for something fun or interesting to do when visiting the capital are somewhere around zero on any day of the year, although if you find yourself struggling for inspiration then you may want to seek out the advice of a local – and who better to give that advice that the Mayor himself, Boris Johnson?

Speaking to VisitLondon, the city’s official visitor guide, Mr Johnson has given listed his recommendations for the perfect day out in the capital, and by following his suggestions you’re sure to have a fantastic time.

First of all, the Mayor insists that what makes the London so unique is the way that its many elements are seamlessly blended together, with all of its historic architecture interspersed among “very, very daring 21st-century modern stuff”, such as skyscrapers like the Shard and others.

On top of this, Mr Johnson is quick to point out that London has “more green space than any other city in the world”, so taking advantage of the wonderful scenery is a must for anyone visiting the capital.

To do so, he suggests taking either a walk or a bike ride (on one of the famous Boris Bikes, of course!) eastwards along the Regent’s Canal, from Victoria Park to the Olympic Park, stopping off at a pub called the Narrow Boat, which the Mayor has praised for its excellent sausage and mash.

East London is currently the most up-and-coming area of the city, with the regeneration that began with the Olympic Games having continued ever since, so if you want to experience the true vibrancy of the city then exploring this part of town is an experience that won’t let you down.

On top of this, Boris recommends visiting the British Museum, the Tower of London, the Crown Jewels and the Tate Modern.
