Fans of foreign cinema staying in Montcalm London hotels may be interested to attend the Brazilian Film Festival, talking place over September 6th to 10th.
Featuring some of the best work by the country’s leading movie makers, the festival promises the latest documentaries, dramas and comedies.
“The third edition of the Brazilian Film Festival of London showcases the best of Brazilian film making… such as Henrique Dantas’ documentary Joao’s Sons, the Admirable Baiano New World, released in Brazil in July, Claudio Torres’ Man from the Future, set to open in September – and Eduardo Vaisman’s 180 degrees,” commented the organisers.
September 6th sees the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) host a cocktail reception and a screening of Man from the Future.
The event will come a to close on September 10th with an awards ceremony at the Odeon in Covent Garden and a showing of Romeo and Juliet Get Married.
Other notable films include the comedy Head Over Heels, the drama Boca and the children’s comedy Beard Boy.
Visitors to London can also enjoy the city’s “biggest filmic free-for-all”, the Portobello Film Festival, taking place from September 1st through to 18th.
The popular event saw 15,000 people sit in on last year’s 600 screenings, while the upcoming event boasts a larger roster of 700 films.
Famed directors Guy Richie and Shane Meadows found early success at past events, with the festival being seen as a launching pad for new careers.
Street magicians and circus acts will flood the famous antique dealing streets throughout the event.
