It may seem like only yesterday that 2013 began, but the year is already drawing to a close, so it's time to start making plans for December 31st.
Always one of the most fun and enjoyable nights of the year, New Year's Eve is a time to reflect on the 12 months that have just past as well as look ahead to the future.
If you don't yet have plans and are looking for a special way to ring in 2014 then why not consider a trip to London? After all, with the city being among the best party destinations on the planet you can be pretty sure of having a great time.
The capital is famous for its many excellent pubs and clubs, catering to every musical taste and interest.
However, with most venues likely to be packed to the rafters on New Year's Eve, you may want to think about heading down to the river to watch the city's famous firework display.
The show takes place around the London Eye, with great viewing spots available all along the Thames, from Westminster to London Bridge.
If you want to get really close up then it's a good idea to turn up early and find a spot on Westminster Bridge before it becomes too crowded and the police decide to close it off – this usually happens around 8pm.
The fireworks will then be let off at midnight, with millions of people lining the streets of central London and creating a truly memorable atmosphere.
The following day will see the annual New Year's Day Parade take place, with more than 10,000 performers from all over the world taking part.
Every London borough will also be represented in the parade, which begins at Piccadilly before heading down Regent Street. The route then continues on to Charing Cross and along Whitehall before finishing at Westminster.
