Fans of 80s and 90s pop hits are in for an early Christmas treat as the likes of Steps, Rick Astley and Bananarama are set to perform at the 02 Arena in December.
The Hit Factory Live – Christmas Cracker show celebrates the legendary songwriting and production trio of Mike Stock, Matt Aitken and Pete Waterman, as well as the latter’s legendary PWL label.
Commonly known as Stock Aitken Waterman (SAW), the team were hugely successful during the 80s and 90s as they scored more than 100 UK top 40 hits, sold around 40 million records and earned an estimated £60 million.
Now those staying in hotels in London can be taking back to a bygone age when Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue captured the nation’s hearts with their hit Especially for You as a number of top acts from the era perform live on stage.
On 21st December, Donovan will be joined by the likes of Pepsi & Shirlie, Princess, Sinitta, Hazell Dean, Sonia, 2 Unlimited, Lonnie Gordon and Brother Beyond.
Steps will be one of the highlights of the show and audience members will be able to hear all of their hits including One For Sorrow, Tragedy, Deeper Shade of Blue and Stomp.
Another headline act is Rick Astley, who holds the record as the first British male artist to have his first eight solo singles go into the Top Ten.
UK girl group Bananarama, who had such classic hits such as Venus, Love In the First Degree and I Want You Back, will also be there.
Pete Waterman said: “Hit Factory Live – Christmas Cracker will be the biggest and best celebration of SAW and PWL ever. This will be the perfect party to commemorate our 25th anniversary.
“We were devastated when Hyde Park’s Hit Factory Live had to be cancelled but now the party is back on with an epic line-up of our classic artists!”
The O2 is within walking distance of the North Greenwich tube station on the Jubilee Line.
