Visitors to London can enjoy a huge range of culinary treats in the capital. After all, if the place really is, as Boris Johnson put it, "the world in one city", then there should be few surprises at what can be found.
However, while Italian, Indian, Sri Lankan, Chinese, Spanish or even good old English fish and chips can all be found easily in the metropolis, there is still the matter of pudding and for some there is simply nothing to beat chocolate.
Indeed, chocoholics may have a special reason to book stays in London hotels in October. Chocolate Week covers the period from October 14th to 20th and is marked by national events and promotions, but it is in London that the grand finale takes place.
Salon du Chocolat – London, is to be held over the weekend of 18th-20th October at the National Hall in Olympia. The first night is a VIP only event, but the following two days offer a chance for thousands of chocolate lovers to pour in and see some of the very finest produce from the UK and overseas.
Experts will be there to give talks on the trade, offer demonstrations and simply display the most mouth-wateringly tasty treats.
Quite simply, those who think chocolate is the best thing in the world will feel like they are in heaven.
One particular highlight of the event will be the Salon's Chocolate Fashion Show, which will be taking place in Britain for the first time ever. It features models walking the catwalk in clothes made entirely from chocolate.
Those staying in London for the event will be able to get to Olympia easily using the Tube. The Kensington (Olympia) station on the District line runs services on the weekends and when there are major events on, so its carriages should be busy with plenty of sweet-toothed passengers.
