Tourists staying at 5 Star Hotels London may be interested in attending the upcoming Frieze Art Fair, which takes place at nearby Regents Park.
Featuring an impressive array of art works from hundreds of talented artists around the world, the Frieze Art fair begins on Thursday October 13th and will continue until Sunday October 16th.
For three days, Regent’s Park will be transformed into an art lover’s paradise, giving attendees the chance to explore more than 170 contemporary galleries. A number of specially commissioned art pieces will be on show, alongside a range of sketches, paintings, prints, photography and sculptures.
There will be a special sculpture park demarcated in the park, featuring a range of exclusive sculptural pieces in Regent’s Park English Garden. A number of acclaimed artists will be featured in the park, including Thomas Houseago, Claudia Fontes, Kiki Smith and Tom Friedman.
As well as viewing the art works on display, attendees will also have the chance to attend a range of talks from industry experts, including Alison Knowles, who was a founder member of the avant garde group Fluxus formed in 1962 and John Bock, who had a major exhibition in London last summer.
Katy Siegel, editor-in-chief of Art Journal and professor of art history at New York’s Hunter College, will be giving a talk on the “luxury of incommensurability”, while artist Daniel Buren will give a lecture about the approach he adopts in creating his work.
Buren has created a number of art works in public spaces in a career spanning four decades. His work is characterised by the use of contrasting coloured vertical stripes – a method exemplified in Two Planes, 1986, for the courtyard of the Palais Royal in Paris.
