Last month’s Ideal Home Show at Earls Court saw a substantial increase in visitor spending.
The annual event is held at the end of March and is a key attraction for those staying at boutique hotels in London who are interested in home design as well as innovative gadgets.
According to industry magazine Event, the average visitor to the 2012 show spent £800 – an increase of 25 per cent compared to 2011’s levels. Overall, spending by visitors to the two-week event is set to total £275 million compared to £225 million at the previous show.
Jonathan Bunn, managing director of Hydropool Hot Tubs, who had a stand at the London event, said: “This is our most successful show in 16 years. The opening day was the best we have ever had and by the end of the first weekend our sales were three times ahead of last year.
“At a time when the economy is going through some tough times and even we struggle to get people into our showrooms, we are thrilled at the results so far.”
It is expected that forthcoming figures will show that more than 250,000 people attended the show this year and it is hoped that the success of the event will be replicated in 2013.
Next year’s Ideal Home Show will again be held at Earls Court, London from March 15th until Match 31st.
However, those enjoying London getaways before then may be attracted by the forthcoming Ideal Home Show at Christmas. The four-day event starts on November 14th and will be hosted by Earls Court.
Tickets start at £12 each and the venue is located close to Earls Court station which is on the District and Piccadilly underground lines.
