Visitors to luxury London hotels may be interested to know that the International Jewellery London (IJL) exhibition has begun in Earls Court 2 in Kensington.
Hundreds of the world’s leading brands and designers have set up stalls at the event, with many top names unveiling brand new collections.
Young and upcoming talent is also being promoted at the glittering event, with new pieces showcased and promoted by Kickstart, Bright Young Gems and the Lonmin Design Innovation Award.
These new designers will take place alongside more established jewellers in exhibiting excellence in design and innovation.
A total of 49 seminars are held for visitors across the four-day event, with an array of experts on hand as presenters.
They cover a range of jewellery related issues and subjects, from online marketing and making use of social media through to the finer details of working ethically.
All the sessions are free, however, organisers suggests arriving early as places fill up quickly.
The show has a dedicated area for diamond and gem suppliers, boasting some of the finest selections available on the market.
People will also be allowed to closely examine the stones before they buy.
Furthermore, fashion and jewellery combine in a series of runway events held throughout the exhibition.
A catwalk running the entire length of the Boulevard will host two 15 minute shows a day, providing a dynamic showcase of designer jewellery.
“IJL was the first of the UK jewellery shows to feature a catwalk and we have decided to re-create this initiative at the 2011 show to highlight the superb quality and diversity of design and craftsmanship at the show. What makes it different, however, is that each catwalk show during the four days will be unique in order to generate maximum interest and freshness,” commented Syreeta Tranfield,event director .
