Joy of Sketch line up unveiled

Comedy lovers staying at central London hotels may be flocking to the region to see The Joy of Sketch at the Lyric Theatre on December 12th.

Including the best of the sketch comedy scene, the Christmas performance boasts Edinburgh Comedy Award nominees Idiots of Ants, Lead Balloon, and Not Going Out stars Anna & Katey.

Idiots of Ants was praised following its Edinburgh run, with the Daily Telegraph reporting: "The imagination, easy chemistry and all-round comic brio on offer here make them look like the smartest sketch-show in town."

Ideal for those stating in hotels in Marble Arch, the central London venue will also see performances by Radio 2 regulars Two Episodes of Mash, Chortle Award winners Late Night Gimp Fight, The Penny Dreadfuls as well as William Andrews and Greg McHugh.

"Pleasance and Time Out present a sketch extravaganza the likes of which London has never seen before," explained Time Out magazine.

"The creme de la creme of sketch comedy acts come together for a mega Christmas bash in the heart of the West End."

In addition to the variety of performances, the Lyric Theatre also boasts a bar area serving a selection of snacks and refreshments, as well as a souvenir shop.

Past performances of The Joy of Sketch have received rave reviews, including a five-star rating from the Metro which praised the "brilliant silliness" of the show.

On top of the already set line up, visitors can expect secret and surprise appearances from special celebrity guests.

"Sketch comedy just got classy," added Pleasance.
