Based on the traditional German Oktoberfest, London is hosting a special beer festival this September.
Kennington Park is set to be transformed with a party atmosphere complete with Lederhosen and is perfect for beer fans enjoying central London hotels.
The fest is taking place from September 20th to 23rd and from September 27th to 30th and there is even an exclusive London Oktoberfest beer. With strength of five per cent, organisers have ordered 28,000 litres of the brew, although there is a variety of other tipples on offer including soft drinks.
Visitors wanting to get really involved can even hire their own traditional German outfit for the event for £35, which is sure to result in a lot of singing and standing on benches. There is even a special range of German souvenirs for sale in the gift shop.
Meal tickets are available for the London Oktoberfest and they include two 1.5 pints of beer, Bavarian sausage plate with Bavarian potato salad, sauerkraut and a surprise dessert and people are advised to book in advance to reserve their seat.
London Oktoberfest is taking place in a special tent in Kennington Park, which is opposite Oval London Underground station. Entry is free except on Saturdays when it is £5.
The 2,850 square metre tent will be open from 4pm until 11pm on weekdays, from 1pm to 11pm on Saturday and 12pm to 7pm on Sunday.
Every year London is also the host of the Great British Beef Festival organised by the Campaign for Real Ale. Taking place in July, thousands of beer fans descend on the capital to partake in the five-day event celebrating the drink and sampling everything from home brewing kits to the best bar snacks.
