London throws Thanksgiving celebrations

Foreign visitors to luxury London hotels may be interested in celebrating the US holiday of Thanksgiving at various locations around the capital.

Traditionally celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November, this year’s event takes place on the 24th.

While its not an official holiday in Britain, lots of American expats and tourists, as well as their friends and relatives, mark the occasion by coming together to eat a traditional Thanksgiving feast.

Guests in the capital can tuck into a Thanksgiving meal of turkey, pumpkin pie, chowder and a variety of other American-themed items and pubs, bars, clubs and restaurants throughout London.

The Big Easy, modelled on the crabshacks which popped up across the US in the early 19th century, offers a relaxed American dining experience.

An award-winning restaurant located on King’s Road, the Big Easy provides a rustic setting for a set course meal.

Renowned chef Wolfgang Puck’s The Cut, located on Park Lane, is offering its own Thanksgiving feast with turkey, cornbread stuffing, brazed greens and a selection of side dishes including.

Visitors to the capital can also indulge in apple-stuffed pumpkin donuts and bourbon pecan pie, with a variety of American wines available to accompany the meal.

Classic 50-style diner joint Ed’s Easy Diner is celebrating Thanksgiving giving in style, with traditional American favourites such as hamburgers, hotdogs, fries and home-made milkshakes.

Meanwhile, JW Steakhouse will be serving up a three-course Thanksgiving meal, kicking off with a complimentary glass of champagne or a Bloody Mary.

Foodies are then given a choice of turkey or steak for their main course, with a selection of side dishes including creamed spinach and bourbon sweet potato mash.
