Look ahead to spring and the Chelsea Flower Show

The UK may be experiencing some of its wettest weather for many a year at the moment, but if all this rain is getting you down then why not cheer yourself by looking ahead to spring? And what better way to do so than by booking a ticket to the famous Chelsea Flower Show?

Held each May at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, this horticulture extravaganza can only be described as blooming marvellous, and will make you forget all about the wind and the rain of the winter months.

Undoubtedly the greatest flower show on the planet, it attracts gardeners and landscapers from across the world, with many of the greatest experts in the field (or garden, more like!) being commissioned to design the floral displays that never fail to leave visitors speechless.

With around 160,000 attendees each year, tickets tend to sell out pretty fast, which is why it's a good idea to start planning your visit now rather than leaving it to the last minute. Doing so is also sure to help bring a smile to your face and enable you to see the light at the end of this rainy tunnel we're currently in.

This year's event will be taking place from May 20th to 24th, and will mark the centenary of the outbreak of the first world war with a special garden inside the Great Pavilion, featuring wartime memorabilia, recreations of the trenches and of course poppies.

As ever, many exotic plants from around the world will also be on show throughout the event, with a number of new gardeners also hosting their first ever displays at the prestigious festival, alongside some established names.

A special garden inspired by the Beatrix Potter's tales of Peter Rabbit is just one of the many unique floral arrangements and gardens that visitors can look forward to seeing, and with just a few months to go until the show kicks off, now is a great time to start planning a springtime trip to London.
