Madness looking forward to Jubilee bash

British pop group Madness have expressed their delight at being asked to take part in a special Diamond Jubilee concert.

The 80s group will play at a concert being held at Buckingham Palace on June 4th. Other acts appearing on the same stage include Paul McCartney, Elton John, JLS and Kylie Minogue.

Lead singer Suggs told BANG Showbiz: ”Her private secretary wrote us a letter, and we were very happy to do it. Yeah, I like the Queen and I’m very pleased to be playing at her party.”

He added that he is looking forward to the event that will showcase the country’s musical talent.

”I think there’s lots of good things going on. I think there’s lots of great new bands around, yeah I mean, there’s a very vibrant music scene in Britain at the moment,” said the Madness frontman.

The concert is being organised by Take That singer and X Factor judge Gary Barlow and all of the free tickets have been allocated using a special ballot.

Successful ticket holders will also be treated to a special picnic at the event which has been designed by celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal to represent a modern twist on classic British dishes such as Coronation chicken.

For those not lucky enough to win tickets, there is plenty to do across the capital city during the Diamond Jubilee weekend, so anyone enjoying special offers on London hotels will be able to pick from a whole host of events including special museum displays, live music, afternoon teas and various family festivals.
