The O2 arena could be one of the entertainment venues of choice for darts fans staying in the capital on London hotel deals in May, with one of the sport's most high-profile events set to return to the city.
On May 16th 2013, the McCoy's Premier League Darts Play-Offs will see the world's top players going head to head.
The event will represent the culmination of a three-month tour of the UK and Ireland.
In a significant change this year, the number of players taking part in the McCoy's Premier League Darts tournament has been increased from eight to ten.
The format sees the ten competitors facing each other once over the course of nine weeks, in 12-leg matches, with the bottom two relegated from the league table following the ninth round in Brighton.
After the last eight players face one another again over the remaining five league nights, the top four will progress to the play-off matches at the O2 on May 16th.
Crowds will be hoping for some entertainment that lives up to last year's event, when Simon Whitlock pulled off an impressive nine-dart finish in his semi-final win over Andy Hamilton.
However, the Australian lost out in the final to Phil 'The Power' Taylor, who claimed the title for the sixth time as a record 10,000 fans looked on.
Taylor has won over 190 professional tournaments and a record 16 World Championships, meaning he is widely regarded as the best darts player of all time.
He is competing in the McCoy's Premier League Darts tournament again this year, along with the likes of Adrian Lewis, James Wade, Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld.
A number of sporting events will be taking place at the O2 arena over the coming months, including the Gaucho International Polo tournament (May 21st).
