Move to the beat at Kinetica Art Fair

This October, London will be moving to the beat of a different drum, when the Kinetica Art Fair threatens to once again take the city by storm.

Being the only exhibition in the country that is solely dedicated to kinetics, robots, sound, light and time-based art, this is one event you will not want to miss this autumn. With bizarre, weird and delightful innovations to marvel over, this is a place where art takes a life of its own and enters virtual reality in fantastic ways.

All year round, the capital city hosts many a fair, but nothing comes close to this. Visitors will be able to get up close and personal with wacky art installations, while there will be an extensive programme of talks, seminars, workshops and interactive displays – kids will even get the chance to create their own kinetic art!

While the full lineup for this year is yet to be announced, if past names are anything to go by, it is sure to be as magnificent as ever. Since being founded in 2009, when just 9,000 people came to the fair, the event has displayed the Holotronica project, which combined live music with real-time holographic visuals, the Cosmic Dancer sculpture that was transported to the Mir space station in 1993, and Ginna Lee's visibly emotional clothing.

Today, the event is bigger than ever, featuring work from over 35 different galleries and 150 artists taking part. Much of the art on offer can be bought, and with price tags ranging from £200 to £35,000, you may even find yourself heading back home with a treasured gift.

The Kinetica Art Fair will be running at the Truman Brewery from October 16th to 19th – be sure to book into a London hotel as demand is usually still high at this time of year.
