Rooftop Film Club celebrates Italian cinema

World cinema lovers may soon be looking to book rooms in a luxury London hotel to take in a unique festival of iconic Italian-inspired films.

Showing at London’s Queen of Hoxton, the event will take place between August 11th and 14th and comes as part of Italian liqueur brand Disaronno’s three month sponsorship of the Rooftop Film Club.

The venue will be transformed into a stylish contemporary terrace for the opening night of the film series, showing classic films such as Romeo and Juliet.

Alongside canapes, Disaronno cocktails will be served during the showings, with each film having been handpicked by Lauren Laverne, who will personally introduce each movie.

Laverne commented: “A great film for me is one that takes you into another world and there’s nothing more visually exciting than Italian inspired cinema.”

Other films on the bill include Roman Holiday, Life is Beautiful and Bicycle Thieves.

Tickets for the film series cost £9 and include a cocktail master class as well as a cranberry chiller.

Outside of the Disaronno-sponsored movie nights, the Rooftop Film Club will also be showing Austin Powers, the Devil Wears Prada, the Fighter, Waynes World, Reservoir Dogs and many more this month.

“Film lovers will be able to eat fabulous food, drink cold beer and watch their favourite movies as the sun goes down and the stars begin to sparkle,” commented the organisers.

“No more hot stuffy cinemas, this is the incomparable film experience in the fresh air of a warm summer’s night. Whether it’s a cult movie with your mates or a rom-com with your other half – the Rooftop Film Club will have something for everyone.”

London has been experiencing the perfect weather for outdoor events recently, with temperatures approaching 30 degrees Celsius.

The Queen of Hoxton is located in the city’s fashionable Shoreditch area, a short journey away from The Montcalm hotel via the local Marble Arch station.
