Event venues in London, such as The Montcalm’s luxury conference rooms, could be an ideal venue for an elegant wedding ceremony or reception.
According to Amber Hunter, senior tutor at the Wedding Planner School, a growing number of couples are choosing a more understated theme for their nuptials following the Royal Wedding in April.
Kate Middleton’s dress is already inspiring more lace-covered bridal gowns, while traditional style are featuring heavily for bridesmaids, the expert pointed out.
She said that the more “wacky” themes of the last ten years are falling out of fashion and couples are going for time-honoured looks instead.
This often includes vintage china, patterned tablecloths and soft colours, all of which would be well-suited to a London hotel reception with tea and cakes.
Gabi Webb, marketing manager for the National Wedding Show, also predicted a trend for “understated elegance” and personalised touches.
“The desire to plan your wedding to suit your personality shone through even at such a traditional event,” she said of the Royal Wedding.
“I think this will encourage more couples to really think what they want out of their day and not always follow strict family traditions.”
According to Ms Webb, the Royal Wedding is expected to prompt an additional £900 million in spending in the UK wedding industry in 2012.
She said the increase in the number of weddings and the overall size of people’s wedding budgets will bring about a spike of up to 20 per cent next year.
The Montcalm hotel is able to host wedding breakfasts and civil marriage ceremonies in its meeting rooms, which vary in size and can be set up in a number of different configurations depending on the couple’s needs.
