Music lovers visiting the capital on September 10th may be interested to hear that Hyde Park will be hosting Proms in the Park.
After eight weeks of the best classical music at the Royal Albert and Cadogan Halls, visitors to hotels in Marble Arch can join the BBC and thousands of people in Hyde Park’s al fresco performances.
Proms in the Park will feature the BBC Concert Orchestra and Royal Choral Society conducted by Keith Lockhart.
Perennial broadcasting personality Terry Wogan will be on hand to introduce the concert, which will feature the work of Chinese pianist Lang Lang, singers Katherine Jenkins, Russell Watson, Josh Groban and Westlife.
Furthermore, the cast of new West End musical Rock of Ages will make a special appearance.
Capping off the evening, a big-screen link-up will be formed with the Royal Albert Hall where crowds at both venues are invited to join Susan Bullock in a sing along of the Sound of Music’s Climb Every Mountain and Carousel’s You’ll Never Walk Alone.
Tickets for the event cost £32.50 per person, with the show starting at 17:30 GMT and finishing at 22:45 GMT.
“The BBC Proms in the Park experience offers a live open-air concert with high-profile artists and presenters, culminating in a BBC big-screen link-up to the Royal Albert Hall and a firework finale in the park,” commented the BBC.
“So gather together your friends, pack a picnic and get ready for a fabulous night out.”
Guests at The Montcalm hotel are ideally situated to enjoy what is perhaps the best al fresco classical music evening available, being a short walk away from the heart of the action.
