Selfridges launches the Big British Bang

A visit to Selfridges is one of the highlights of a shopping trip in the capital and for anyone staying in hotel accommodation in London this weekend there will be even more reason to browse its floors.

The department store is celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with the launch of its Big British Bang event, with a host of patriotic products on offer.

In the Big British Shop consumers will be able to purchase unique items from a variety of luxury brands. There are Alexander McQueen Union Jack clutch bags, Annie Little Queen cushions, Vivienne Westwood Jubilee scarves and Barbour Best of British jackets, to name but a few.

There will also be a Big Yellow Shop featuring products bearing the Selfridges signature colour Pantone 109, from mugs and notebooks to bags and clothing.

If you’re looking to pick up some gifts during your stay in the capital, there will be plenty of Diamond Jubilee memorabilia in-store, not to mention a huge array of foodie goods and sweet treats.

Planning a wedding? Or simply love jewellery? Then head to the department store’s pop-up Tiara Shop where you will find replicas of some of the world’s most famous headpieces, from Kate Middleton’s bridal tiara to Audrey Hepburn’s dazzling crown, worn in the movie Roman Holiday.

Wander into Selfridges among the beauty counters and you may never leave. There will be a garden party at the bareMinerals counter, while YSL will be showcasing the hottest looks with blue, white and red make-up and Clinique will be showing customers how to achieve the ultimate summer glow.

Even the store’s eateries have released special menus for the Diamond Jubilee, featuring a mouth-watering choice of Great British classics like coronation chicken salad, salmon and cucumber sandwiches and scones with jam and clotted cream. Tea too, of course.

London’s Selfridges store is located on Oxford Street in the capital’s West End. Bond Street and Regent Street are also nearby where visitors can enjoy a fabulous shopping experience.
