Art lovers may be looking for luxury London hotels as the Southbank Centre’s Hayward Gallery plays host to a Tracey Emin exhibition.
Known as one of Britain’s most celebrated contemporary artists, Emin’s work is explored across every period of her career in the Love Is What You Want exhibition.
Featuring paintings, drawings, photography, textiles, video and sculpture, the exhibition boasts works of art that are “tough, romantic, desperate, angry, funny and full of longing”.
The venue will display some of the eminent artist’s rarely seen early work as well as recent large-scale instillations and a new series of outdoor sculptures created specifically for the Hayward Gallery.
Known for exploring the intimate aspects of her own life, Emin’s work is sometimes explicit in nature and as such under-16s wont be admitted without an adult chaperone, however, the gallery says her work is “disarmingly frank yet profoundly private”.
Entrance into the exhibit costs £12, not including a booking fee of £1.75, while seniors are admitted for £11, followed by students and under-18s for £9 and £7.50 respectively.
The Hayward Gallery announced that visitors can also take advantage of a deal with the Skylon Grill, which offers a lunch and ticket to the exhibition for £30 per person.
People are allowed to eat either before or after their visit to the gallery and can claim the discount by calling the venue’s ticket office and mentioning the offer.
Art-lovers looking to walk away with a memento can pick up the illustrated catalogue of the exhibition, while those looking for a more in-depth understanding can take advantage of tours that run until July 28th.
The Southbank Centre is within walking distance of Charing Cross and Embankment London Underground stations, which is a short tube ride away from Marble Arch, via Oxford Circus – the nearest station to the Montcalm hotel.
