Amlin Challenge Cup to return to London
Rugby lovers may soon look to book Hotels in Park Lane as it has been announced that the Amlin Challenge Cup Final will be played in the capital.
ERC, tournament organisers, announced that the game will take place at the Twickenham Stoop on Friday May 18th 2012 with the event kicking off a "unique festival" of European Club rugby culminating with the Heineken Cup Final on the 19th at nearby Twickenham Stadium.
Ideal for those staying in central London hotels, holding two of the most esteemed events in the rugby calendar in the capital will create an "exciting buzz" as the city fills with supporters.
"With such a packed programme of sporting events for London throughout 2012 there really is no better time to visit the capital," commented Iain Edmondson, head of major events at London & Partners.
"The Amlin Challenge Cup Final complimenting the Heineken Cup Final at Twickenham in May, provides the ultimate weekend rugby showdown that will set the capital buzzing ahead of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in the summer."
This will be the fourth time that the Twickenham Stoop has hosted the Amlin Challenge Cup Final, Gloucester Rugby winning in 2006, ASM Clermont Auvergne a year later, and Northampton Saints in 2009.
Derek McGrath, ERC chief executive, said: "Supporters of the club game in Europe will have the opportunity to experience two compelling rugby occasions in the same area of London in the space of 24 hours.
"This will be another celebration of European club rugby with four elite teams including numerous world-class players battling for silverware in two Twickenham stadiums which are less than a mile apart."
Rugby-mad men hoping to convince their partners to join them may want to consider The Montcalm hotel, which also serves as one of the top Luxury spas in London.
