Bob Avian 'thrilled' to have A Chorus Line back in London

14th February 2013

Just as the classic Broadway musical A Chorus Line is revived on the West End this month, director Bob Avian said he is delighted to be back in London.

With a large mix of brilliant songs from Marvin Hamlisch, high-kicking dance routines and sexually-frank dialogue A Chorus Line set pulses racing in 1976 and managed to win the Pulitzer Prize for drama the same year.

Since then it has become one of the most celebrated productions in Broadway history, being one of stage's longest-running shows in the US.

For the first time since arriving from Broadway 37 years ago, the production is back on the West End for a full revival and there are sure to be a plethora of people looking at luxury hotels in London to be able to catch a performance of this ground-breaking show at the London Palladium.

It is set to be in situ until July 13th, so people have some time on their side in choosing exactly when they want to head to the capital.

Talking to the BBC, Avian said it is "thrilling to be back" in London with the show.

He added that they wanted to bring the show back to London much sooner, but finding the right theatre proved to be tougher than they had imagined.

Avian continued: "The nature of the show demands that we have a 40ft (12m) opening and there's only three theatres in town that have that. We've not been able to find the right theatre at the right time.

"When the Palladium came up I was thrilled. It feels warm and it hugs the performer."

Upon visiting one of the many hotels that the city has to offer, you might be apprehensive about getting around the capital.

But, with the use of the Underground system, you shouldn't have too many problems. Luckily, Oxford Circus is situated just a stone's throw from the London Palladium.
