Brian Wilson to perform Gershwin at Royal Festival Hall
Visitors to luxury London hotels may be interested in attending a special performance by former Beach Boys star Brian Wilson at the Royal Festival Hall.
Taking place on September 16th to the 18th, the legendary songwriter, producer and arranger returns to the venue following his celebrated sell-out performances in 2007.
He will be performing the entirety of his latest critically-acclaimed album Brian Wilson Re-imagines Gershwin as well as Beach Boys classics.
Brian Wilson Re-imagines Gershwin includes an acapella arrangement of Rhapsody in Blue, songs from Porgy and Bess such as Summertime and It Ain't Necessarily So, as well as classic compositions including They Can't Take That Away From Me and I Got Rhythm.
Wilson commented: "I remember hearing Rhapsody in Blue and I was probably four or five years old and I was blown away… I just couldn't believe how beautiful it was."
He added: "Along with Irving Berlin, Gershwin basically invented the popular song, but he did something more. He had a gift for melody that nobody has ever equalled, yet his music is timeless and always accessible. This is the most spiritual project I've ever worked on."
All three performances start at 19:30 GMT and vary in price from £35 to £55, however, there is a limited number of concession seats available at a 50 per cent discount.
The musical legend will take his show on a tour of the UK including the Isle of Wight, Gateshead, Glasgow and Birmingham, as well as a show in Holland and Brussles.
