Celebrate four years of the Clerkenwell Vintage Fashion Fair
This weekend should see lovers of fashion and vintage wares flock to the Clerkenwell Vintage Fashion Fair, which celebrates its fourth anniversary on Sunday (May 12th) and is holding a unique Vintage Extravaganza in commemoration.
Glamour magazine has described the fair as a "treasure trove of inspiration" and with over 50 dealers selling authentic designer apparel from the likes of Yves St Laurent and Dior alongside accessories, posters and homeware, it's easy to see why.
The glorious art-deco interior of the Old Finsbury Town Hall provides the perfect setting for this shopper's paradise. The discerning fashionista can peruse traders' stalls to their heart's content - then perhaps pop over to the Tea Room des Artistes to enjoy tea from vintage china and delicious homemade cakes and refreshments.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, the Clerkenwell Vintage Fair will be making a few new additions to its usual repertoire of services and entertainments.
For instance, fair-goers can employ the talents of Minnie Moons, London's first vintage manicurist. Specialising in the "half-moon look" that was popular in the 20s and 30s, Ms Moons will be in attendance for the duration of the Vintage Extravaganza and those who book her services can even enjoy free entry.
Additionally, the tea room will host several live acts - parlour jazz bands and singers who hark back to the opulence and glamour of a bygone age.
An on-the-spot alteration service will be available, so those who feel their sartorial haul would benefit from a few personal customisations can have these carried out on the day.
Clerkenwell is located in the borough of Islington and should be easy to reach for those staying in luxury hotels in London this week. Users of public transport should head towards Farringdon station, where a number of tube and rail services call. The fair opens at 11am and runs until 5pm, with tickets costing £4.
