Celebrate New Year's Eve in style by taking a trip to London

2nd December 2013

It's always important to let your hair down on New Year's Eve, as it's one of the few nights of the year when everyone is in a good mood.

Whether you want to pay homage to a fantastic 12 months, celebrate the end of an awful year, ring in a new beginning or just have a ball for the sake of it, you'll find loads of great ways to get your kicks in London this December 31st.

As per usual, the biggest party in town will be taking place right in the city centre and will be free, with the now famous fireworks display at the London Eye set to light up the sky above the capital once more.

Millions of people will be lining the streets along the banks of the Thames to witness this wonderful annual tradition, and the fireworks will be visible from as far away as London Bridge.

To make sure you get the best view, it's advisable to turn up early and try and nab a spot close to the London Eye itself. Westminster Bridge will be a highly prized position on New Year's Eve, and is likely to be full to capacity several hours before midnight, so if you want to get close to the action then you really will have to get orgnaised.

For those who fancy something a little more wild, British dance music legends The Prodigy will be playing a gig on New Year's Eve at the O2 Arena in North Greenwich. Known as the Godfathers of the rave scene, the Colchester group are set to ring in 2014 in boisterous style by playing hits like Firestarter, Smack My Bitch Up, Omen and others, and will also be supported by a DJ set from Rudimental.

Anyone looking for something a little more sophisticated, however, may want to head to the Royal Albert Hall, where the London Symphony Orchestra will be playing the soundtrack from the 2012 Oscar-winning movie the Artist, alongside a screening of the silent movie itself.
