Christmas comes to the London Eye
The Southbank is the ideal place to indulge in some Christmas fun this year.
Visitors staying at central London hotels could be tempted to put on some skates and enjoy the 300-metre ice rink that has been created in the shadow of the famous London Eye.
Tickets are available for the rink which is open until January 6th. Each skating session lasts 45 minutes and includes skate hire. For youngsters taking to the ice, there are special stabilising seals that will help them stay upright.
Included in the tickets is also access to the 4D cinema at the Eye, which showcases a number of short films in 3D, with added theatre effects such as rain and wind to create the fourth dimension.
For those taking a trip on the wheel itself, then there are a number of festive treats available on board, including mulled wine – the perfect accompaniment for sightseeing.
This year saw the launch of new technology within the London Eye capsules to help boost the visitor experience by providing detailed information on the stunning scenery.
"London Eye is delighted to announce its brand new in-capsule experience, which will be available to all guests who visit London's most iconic landmark," explained a spokesperson from the attraction.
"The London Eye's capsules are now complete with state of the art Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 devices, displaying bespoke content."
The Southbank area of London is also home to the Tate Modern, the National Theatre and the London Aquarium as well as offering great views of the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben across the River Thames.
