David Bailey retrospective now on at National Portrait Gallery

14th February 2014

Lovers of the arts are certainly spoilt for choice in London, with so many world-class galleries and exhibition centres to be found throughout the city, each offering some truly fantastic displays by the world's greatest painters, sculptors, photographers and more.

One person who needs no introduction is David Bailey, with the British photographer generally considered to be among the greatest artists ever in his field, and having received the Royal Photographic Society's Centenary Medal and Honorary Fellowship in recognition for his outstanding work.

Whether you're familiar with his greatest pieces or have never come across his creative genius before, now is a fantastic time to head to the National Portrait Gallery, where an exhibition dedicated to his life's work is currently on show.

Entitled Bailey's Stardust, the display features around 250 of the photographer's most striking images - personally selected by the man himself - depicting a range of unforgettable subjects and themes.

The photographs on show vary from his portraits of celebrities and musicians - including the likes of the Rolling Stones and Kate Moss - to his stunning pictures of indigenous tribesmen in the far-flung corners of the world.

Rooms are arranged thematically, with many being dedicated to the various countries and cities in which Bailey has worked - including the likes of Papua New Guinea, Delhi, Australia, east Africa and of course the East End of London.

Running until June 1st, this incredible exhibition is one that all photography enthusiasts will certainly want to see, and ranks among the most prestigious and high-quality collections ever to have been hosted at the National Portrait Gallery - or anywhere else for that matter.

Located just off Trafalgar Square on Charing Cross Road, the gallery can be accessed from several tube stations, including Leicester Square and Trafalgar Square.
