Designers flock to London for Fashion Week
Fashionistas will soon be flocking to the capital to take part in London Fashion Week over September 18th to 21st.
Organised by the British Fashion Council, London Fashion Week is a major biannual event at Somerset House, which showcases the latest season's collections, making it a must for fashion-minded guests in luxury London hotels.
It is a regular fixture in the lives of celebrities and trend setting icons, with the fashion media keeping their eyes peeled on anything that might betray next year's styles.
Over 100 designers hold a series of catwalk shows in white marquees erected along the lawn of Somerset House, with a healthy mix of new faces and established names sharing the podiums.
Designers unveil their latest collections to a professional audience, including press and buyers from retailers around the world, and the festival serves as a vital launching pad for the best of British fashion.
Model and fashion writer Laura Bailey was named Cultural Ambassador for the event, making her responsible for promoting Britain's fashion industry across the globe.
She commented: "I'm proud of my new ambassadorship and I am thrilled to be to working with and promoting young British talent. I think it's a really exciting time for British fashion - via the shows, in the shops and on the streets... Roll on September for London Fashion Week!"
While the main body of events is tightly controlled and entry is limited to the hoi polloi of the fashion set, the rest of the city embraces the week, playing host to stylish functions that rival the most exclusive offerings.
