Eminem set to become first rapper to play Wembley Stadium
Detroit rapper Eminem has just announced plans for a one-night-only show at Wembley Stadium this summer, making him the first solo hip-hop artist ever to play at the famous venue, which is typically associated with pop and rock acts.
Indeed, the star had been hoping to play a large-scale outdoor show in the capital this year, following the enormous success of his latest album, the Marshall Mathers LP 2, which went straight in at number one on the UK charts.
However, plans to perform in Hyde Park fell through after the artist was not approved to take to the stage in that particular venue, resulting in the choice of Wembley Stadium instead.
The show will be taking place on July 11th, with tickets set to go on sale this Friday (May 9th).
As one of the most respected and accomplished figures in the rap genre, Eminem has gone from strength to strength since the release of his debut album, the Marshall Mather LP, back in 1999.
Indeed, the success of his latest record has made him the first ever US artist to achieve seven consecutive number one albums in the UK, so it's likely that demand for tickets to this particular show will be very high.
Among his most famous hits are tracks like My Name Is, Lose Yourself, Stan and many others, and the fact that Eminem has so rarely performed in London during his career will surely only add to the excitement ahead of his appearance this summer.
Indeed, since the turn of the century, the rapper has limited his UK performances to major music festivals, making his forthcoming concert at Wembley Stadium all the more unique.
With the show set to be a lively and energetic affair, attendees will need somewhere comfy to rest once it's all over, and with the Montcalm Hotel just a short tube ride away from Wembley, this shouldn't be too much of a problem.
