Enjoy car-free Regents Street every Sunday in July
London's West End is always a great place to be on a weekend, with loads going on at every turn, and a fantastic atmosphere caused by the multitudes of shoppers and sightseers as they make their way around some of the most famous streets in the world.
However, if you happen to be visiting the capital next month, you could be in for an extra special treat, as the world famous Regents Street will be closed to traffic every Sunday in July, allowing more people than ever before to explore London's classiest thoroughfare.
Regents Street is home to many of the most iconic shops in the capital, with several huge brands and designer labels having their flagship stores here. For example, it's here that you'll find the famous Hamley's Toy Store, which is the best place to be if you want to awaken your inner child.
The flagship Apple Store is also located on Regents Street, so if you want to take a look at the very latest trends in technology then this is certainly the place to be.
Remember, too, that Regents Street is surrounded by some of London's best hotels and restaurants, with the likes of the Montcalm Hotel Marble Arch being located just a short stroll away.
As well as allowing pedestrians to take over the street without having to worry about traffic, this unique event - which has been labelled Summer Streets and was inspired by a similar initiative in New York called the Mayor's Air Quality Strategy - will see Regents Street take on a different theme on each of the four Sundays in July.
For example, July 7th will be Action and Play, and will see all sorts of great events and activities taking place, including a treasure hunt, a Zumba class and an acrobatics performance. The 14th, meanwhile, will be entitled Awaken the Senses, with free yoga classes, flashmob choirs and much more for visitors to enjoy.
This will be followed by a fashion-themed day on July 21st and a garden-themed extravaganza on the 28th.
