Get loved-up in London this Valentine's Day
With Valentine's Day now less than a month away, it's time start planning the perfect romantic evening for you and your partner. If giving a card and some chocolates isn't likely to make much of an impact on your loved one then a trip to the capital could well be the perfect option.
London is full of romantic spots, many of which can be enjoyed for free. Taking a moonlit stroll along the banks of the Thames for example, is always popular with couples, as the dazzling lights of some of the city's most spectacular landmarks - such as Tower Bridge, the London Eye and many others - tend to set the mood just right.
If you'd like to sweep your partner off their feet then you may want to take a ride on the Eye itself or head up to the observation of the Shard - Europe's tallest building - for breathtaking views across the London skyline.
A romantic meal is something that always goes down well when you're trying to make an impression on your other half, and London is full of atmospheric restaurants - like the elegant le Cercle near Sloane square or the classy Belvedere in Holland Park - where you can get your evening off to the perfect start.
Once you're done with dinner, you'll find plenty of great events taking place across the capital this Valentine's Day, so if you feel like enjoying some top entertainment then London is certainly the place to be.
This year, for example, the British Library will be hosting a Georgian Valentine's Ball, which is the perfect choice for anyone looking for some old-fashioned romance. Elsewhere, the Churchill War Rooms in Westminster will be holding a 1940s-style party, giving couples the chance to dance the night away to some of the war era's iconic music.
