London blogger names favourite destinations
Culture vultures staying in central London hotels have been advised on the top spots to visit by fashion and lifestyle blogger Millie Cotton.
Ideal for guests booked into central London hotels, the It's a Ldn Thing blogger offers up her favourite five places in the city.
The Stairwell, located in the LCC Tower Block, may be one of the "least aesthetically pleasing" buildings, but the sight from the 14th floor is said to be "outstanding", especially at night.
"There is little that can't be seen of the sights surrounding south bank," the writer told Time Out.
Additionally, visitors looking for a night out on the town were advised to pick up some drinks and do some dancing at Church.
"Church is one of south-east London's best-kept secrets," she explained. "It's a bass/house driven night, full of arty sorts with incredible taste in music.
"It started in the basement of a church in Camberwell last March and has since moved to Corsica Studios to house the ever-growing capacity. To top it all off, drinks are cheap and if you sign up to the mailing list entry is free."
Adventurous architecture lovers were told to head to Hammersmith Bridge, which offers some of the best surroundings to take in a wide view of the city.
"The bridge that crosses the Thames just south of Hammersmith is quirky and a total health and safety hazard," Ms Cotton remarked. "What is there not to love?"
Chinese food lovers may enjoy Culture near Waterloo, which offers authentic cuisine without the hustle and bustle of China Town.
"Culture is the place," she said, adding: "Before we even had time to find the toilet, a mountain of food was plonked before us... The food was good and we were in and out within half an hour."
Finally, the London expert suggests that movie lovers hit the Electric Cinema on Portobello Road.
The historic cinema first opened in 1910 and has served as one of London's longest running theatres.
