London lights up for Christmas
Londoners are gearing up for Christmas with an array of events planned that visitors in luxury London hotels can take part in.
Taking place across December, tourists can enjoy a variety of sights and sounds, such as the Christmas Tree in Trafalgar Square, pantomimes and concerts as well as London's famous light displays.
"London acquires a special sparkle around Christmas time. The weather is frosty, the Christmas lights are twinkling, and shoppers line the streets," commented Visit London.
"The centrepiece of London's Christmas spectacle is the giant pine tree - a gift to London from the people of Norway - which is beautifully adorned and set up in Trafalgar Square each year."
November 1st will see the Oxford Street Christmas Lights come alive across the famous shopping high street.
Pop-act The Saturdays will be turning on the lights as well delivering a performance of their new single My Heart Takes Over.
St Christopher's Place lights up on November 3rd, with a contemporary display provided by James Glancy.
Arrivals at 18:00 GMT will be able to see the giant silver sphere lights switched on by the English National Ballet's Sugar Plum Fairy from the Nutcracker.
November 7th will see teenage superstar Justin Bieber switch on lights at Westfield London and Westfield Stratford City.
The 17-year-old will lead the countdown at Westfield London in Shepard’s Bush at 17:00GMT before singing four of his songs, including the new Mistletoe track.
"There will also be a fireworks display and Bieber will sing four acoustic tracks," remarked Visit London, adding: "Expect lots of screaming!"
