London Restaurant Festival kicks off tomorrow

2nd October 2013

London is not only the cultural and political capital of the UK, it's also one of the culinary capitals of Europe, boasting a huge number of top-quality restaurants serving cuisine from all around the world.

Anyone interested in getting a truly intense London dining experience may want to consider taking a trip to the city this month, as the fifth annual London Restaurant Festival gets underway tomorrow.

Lasting for three weeks until October 21st, the event will see some 350 of the capital's top eateries take part, with a number of specially designed tours and other experiences to keep locals and tourists entertained and well fed.

Fans of Spanish food, for example, will be able to embark on a unique tapas tour of London, with special dishes on offer at restaurants like Fernandez and Wells, El Pirata, Copita and Barrica. Using their London Restaurant Festival passport, participants will have access to unique tasting menus at all of these establishments.

Alternatively, if you're more into Asian cuisine, then the Japanese Journey may be more up your street. Many of London's finest sushi restaurants will be taking part in this, including the likes of Inamo Regent Street, Inamo Soho, Tonkotsu and Shoryu.

A host of other exciting events will also be taking place throughout the festival, with diners at 195 Piccadilly having the chance to enjoy a three-course dinner curated by Jonathan Ross while watching the movie Spirited Away.

In addition, a series of Sunday roasts will be prepared at restaurants across the capital by some of the country's most famous chefs, who will then be in attendance to meet and great diners. Among those taking part in this initiative are the likes of Jason Atherton, Angela Hartnett, Theo Randall, Marianne Lumb and Mark Sergeant.

As if all that wasn't enough, a special Routemaster tour bus will also be doing the rounds of London's finest restaurants, with passengers able to enjoy one course at each stop.
