London's German Christmas market will put you in the holiday spirit
The countdown to Christmas is well underway, with less than eight weeks to go and we're all starting to think about things like Christmas shopping, office parties and menus for the big family meal.
But if you need a bit of a boost to really get into the festive spirit, why not book a room at one of the top hotels in London and head to the German Christmas market?
It's open daily from November 16th to December 23rd on the Queen's Walk - the path that runs along the Thames South Bank from the Waterloo Bridge to the London Eye - and promises to bring a touch of traditional Bavarian festivity to the capital.
Now in its fifth year, the German Christmas market has become a favourite event for tourists and locals alike. And whether you're looking for unique Christmas presents or a fun day out with the family, the market offers plenty of options.
More than 80 wooden chalets will be built, all featuring sparkling fairy lights and festive garland and housing shops selling a wide range of goods - such as Christmas ornaments, clothing and jewellery, as well as chocolates and cakes, knickknacks and handmade crafts.
A new feature to this year's Christmas market is a children's area, where kids can learn how to make their own Christmas decorations and cards, as well as a pocket money gift shop, where your little ones can feel grown up buying their own special gifts for mum and dad.
If you're feeling hungry while enjoying the market, a number of food vendors will also be dotted around the area. Try a bit of bratwurst or a delicious burger, or sip on mulled wine while nibbling on a bit of fresh ginger bread or roasted nuts.
The colourful Southbank Carousel will be running as normal, and there will also be a variety of entertainment on offer - including twice-daily choral performances by local school children, featuring carols and Christmas songs in a variety of musical genres.
