Rugby autumn internationals to kick off at Twickenham next month

22nd October 2013

As everyone knows, London is one of the most significant locations on the global sporting map, with Wembley being the home of football, Wimbledon being the home of tennis, and Twickenham being the home of rugby.

Anyone with an interest in rugger may therefore be interested to hear that the southern hemisphere heavyweights will be in town next month to take on England in the QBE Rugby Internationals.

Last year, Stuart Lancaster's men recorded a famous victory over reigning world champions New Zealand, and the All Blacks will be back in London in November to put England to the test once more.

Matches will be taking place at Twickenham from November 2nd to 16th, with England kicking off the series against one of the world's up-and-coming sides, Argentina.

The Pumas have been on the rise for a number of years now, and ever since their impressive performance in the 2007 World Cup – where they beat France in the 3rd place play-off – have been considered to be among the southern hemisphere elite.

Following this match the home side will then play against both New Zealand and rivals Australia, in what are sure to be thrilling matches.

With international pride at stake, the QBE Rugby Internationals also represent a significant part of the national side's preparations for the Six Nations championship which takes place in the spring, as the three upcoming matches provide an excellent chance for the players to prove their worth and secure a spot in the team for next year.

Matches will be held over three successive Saturdays, with the Australia game being sandwiched between the encounters with Argentina and New Zealand.

Twickenham is located in south-west London and the stadium itself is serviced by Twickenham Railway Station, while buses also run to the ground from Richmond and Hounslow East tube stations.
