See the best badminton stars in the world at the London Grand Prix
Badminton is one of numerous sports that have been given a new lease of life since the summer Olympics in London last year.
The organisers of the 2012 Games stressed that one of the key aims of the showcase was to leave a lasting legacy that benefited UK sports which includes badminton.
Now, one of the biggest badminton events in the calendar is coming to London for the first time, giving those looking for something to do in London the chance to see some of the best players from the UK and beyond pit their wits against each other over six days of competition.
More than 243 matches will be played at the Copper Box in Queen Elizabeth Park in Stratford.
Part of the Badminton World Federations Grand Prix Gold event series, it is not simply a tournament for fun.
Indeed, world ranking points will be at stake, while there is a prize pool of $120,000 (£7,750) up for grabs, so visitors staying in London hotels can be sure that the players will be taking the whole event very seriously indeed.
While the tournament will give audiences the opportunity to see some of the most talented players in the world from near and far go head-to-head, the aim is also to encourage people to pick up rackets themselves and see what a challenging but fun sport badminton is.
The event will be held at the Copper Box Arena at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, which is easily accessible from all four corners of London.
Stratford is less than 40 minutes away from all of the capital's major railway stations, while visitors can also travel on the Jubilee line as well as the Docklands Light Railway to get to this part of east London.
