See West End performances for free next month

29th May 2013

With a host of amazing musicals running at any given time, there's more on offer in London's West End than any tourist can fit into a single weekend. However, next month they'll have a rare opportunity to approximate this undertaking as West End Live returns to Trafalgar Square for the ninth time.

Presented by Westminster City Council and the Society of London Theatre, this annual free festival showcases the very best of the capital's musicals. Exciting new shows will take the spotlight alongside established favourites like Les Miserables and We Will Rock You.

Taking place over two days on the weekend of June 22nd to 23rd, this vibrant and eclectic programme of entertainment is an excellent opportunity for newcomers to sample the unique pleasures of the West End and for seasoned show-goers to familiarise themselves with freshly-launched stage spectacles.

The 2013 show will incorporate performances from hot new tickets The Bodyguard, Dirty Dancing and The Golden Voice.

Furthermore, organisers have cooperated with some of London's leading museums and galleries to provide an array of interactive exhibits for festival-goers to peruse at their leisure.

Entrance to West End Live operates on a first come, first served basis and would-be attendees are advised to turn up early to avoid disappointment. Last year's crowds are thought to have exceeded half a million in number, so queues are expected.

Home to Nelson's Column and the National Gallery, Trafalgar Square is one of the capital's most iconic public spaces and is visited by millions of tourists every year. Those heading to West End Live from central London hotels, railway stations and other landmarks should find the square easy to find. Underground travellers are served by the Charing Cross, Embankment and Leicester Square tube stops.

Performances begin at 11am on Saturday and 12pm on Sunday. Official entrances will be found on the north-east and north-west of the square.
