Winter Wonderland opens in Hyde Park this weekend
Christmas time sees a number of fantastic festive events take place across the capital, and there are none more popular than the incredible Winter Wonderland, which is set up in Hyde Park each year.
Located in the heart of the capital, the park itself is one of the most magical locations in London, featuring the stunning Kensington Palace Gardens and the Serpentine, both of which take on an added beauty in December as the frost and (if we're lucky) snow add a white blanket to the scenery.
But the main attraction is without a doubt Winter Wonderland, which will be opening its doors to the public this Friday (November 22nd), and remaining in place until January 5th.
Among the highlights of this fantastic event is the UK's largest ice rink, although it's worth bearing in mind that while Winter Wonderland is free to enter, those who want to skate will need to pre-book their slot on the ice.
The hugely popular ferris wheel will also be returning this year, providing visitors with the chance to view the London skyline from a height of 60 m, while a range of other exciting fairground rides and games will also be available.
Perhaps the most impressive feature of all is the Magical Ice Kingdom, which is a walk-through world carved out of real ice and snow, featuring its very own ice slide and ice bar. Among the different areas to explore are the medieval village and the ice forest, which is infested with ice trolls.
From here, guests will continue on to the ice castle and dungeon, and may even bump into an ice ogre along the way.
Of course, no Winter Wonderland would be complete without Santa's Grotto, and the big man himself will be on hand to greet children each day.
Zippos Circus, meanwhile, will be putting on shows in the evenings, so there really is something for everyone in Hyde Park this Christmas.
