Winter Wonderland Weekend comes to London Wetland Centre
The London Wetland Centre will be hosting a weekend of festive fun in the run-up to Christmas.
Families staying in London central hotels on December 8th and December 9th may be tempted to head to the wildlife centre to take part in various Christmas activities ranging from husky rides and making Christmas decorations
Jamie Wyver at the Wetland Centre explained: "This is the third year we have done Santa and huskies - the huskies are usually the main thing people get excited about. We also have a Christmas show going on through the weekend - A Wetland Christmas Carol.
"We also have wine tasting adults and Shire Horses on the Saturday."
The price of the activities are includes in the standard admission to the Wetland centre and children can also see Father Christmas, while adults can enjoy some mulled cider, hot chocolate and mince pies.
Entry to the Wetland Centres costs £9.99 for adults and £5.55 for children. The nearest London Underground station is Hammersmith, which is on the Piccadilly, District and Circle lines and visitors can then catch a bus directly to the centre's main entrance.
The London Wetland Centre is on the site of four disused Victorian reservoirs and was first opened in 2000. It has since be classified as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and covers an area of some 40 hectares.
The centre is also home to a wide variety of birds included gadwell and shoveler ducks, sand martins, sparrowhawks and kingfishers. The Countryfile Magazine Awards also recently named the centre as the UK's Favourite Nature Reserve of 2012.
