Don trainers to discover London's landmarks

29th January 2013

"This concept offers an alternative to being jammed in a bus," founder and runner Hope Sloly told London's Evening Standard.

"In addition, joggers see so much more than on a conventional walking tour."

People can choose from a number of different tours that are aimed at novice and more experienced runners. Shorter runs will take London Eye, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace.

While more challenging courses start at the O2 Arena and tour through the famous London area of Greenwich – taking in National Maritime Museum and Royal Observatory.

Evening Standard journalist Antonia Kanczula admitted the running had been challenging but it was also a perfect way to see the capital's historic attractions.

"Warm-up and cool-down included, it's taken around an hour and has forced me to run at a pace a notch higher than my usual," said Kanczula.

"I've seen some of London's finest sights and gained the impetus to tackle more city-centric runs."

Standard tours cost £26 each and customised tours are priced at £46. Bookings need to be made two days in advance via the City Jogging Tours website.
