Enjoy some great live music in London
London is known around the world for being one of the best cities on the planet for live music, with some truly spectacular and even legendary concert venues located in the capital.
The O2 Arena, for example, currently sells more tickets than any other performance centre in the world, while both Wembley Stadium and Wembley Arena hold almost mythical status within the world of music.
However, while getting tickets to a show at any of these venues often involves booking months in advance, there are also a number of places in London where that you can go to on a whim to catch a show, as the city is home to a huge number of excellent pubs that regularly host gigs.
Depending on whereabouts in the capital you happen to be based you can be reasonably sure that one such venue will be close by, although if you aren't sure where to start looking then Camden is always a pretty good bet.
Here you'll find pubs like the Hawley Arms and Barfly, both of which have a reputation for hosting the biggest and best names on the indie music scene, while Proud Galleries also regularly holds performances by both established and up-and-coming artists.
Elsewhere in London, Shoreditch is full of great bars that often have live music events, with the Old Blue Last on Great Eastern Street being among the best. Indeed, the pub has a reputation for hosting gigs and DJs every night of the week, so even if everywhere else seems dead you're sure to find what you're looking for here.
Another area that's great for live music is Dalston, with bars like Birthdays and the Nest often providing excellent entertainment in the form of live music, while the Lexington in Islington is also considered to be among London's top performance venues.
