Kids go free at the Shard View this half term
If you're planning a trip to the capital over the October half term and are on the lookout for an experience that will really bring the city to life, then checking out the view from the top of the Shard is certainly a good shout.
As Western Europe's tallest building and London's newest skyscraper, the Shard has already become one of the most iconic elements on the city's skyline, and with viewing platforms located on the 68th, 69th and 72nd floors, you can be sure of getting some pretty unbelievable vistas.
Designed by world-renowned architect Renzo Piano, the building stands at 310 m tall and has proved extremely popular among tourists and locals alike, thousands of whom have already ascended the tower to enjoy the view over London.
This half term, there's excellent news for parents, as children between the ages of four and 15 will be able to head up to the viewing decks for free.
What's more, the same deal will also be running during the Christmas holidays, so anyone who doesn't make it to London later this month will have another chance to ascend the Shard in December.
The offer will be available from October 21st to November 3rd and from December 20th to January 6th.
If you're still not sure what to expect once you reach the dizzying heights of the 68th floor, then try to imagine views stretching for 40 miles in all directions, giving you the best possible vantage point over all of London's major landmarks as well as the surrounding countryside.
A series of fascinating interactive displays can also be enjoyed on the observation decks, helping to bring the city to life and provide a little extra insight into the amazing sights you see before you.
With the 72nd floor being located at a height of 244 m above street level, it's almost twice as high as any other viewing platform in the capital, so it really is the best seat in the house.
