Choose a weekend in London for a Mother's Day to remember
A girly weekend away in London could be the perfect way to treat your mum to a Mother's Day to remember.
With plenty of luxury spas in London to choose from, as well as some great London hotel deals on offer, a weekend of pampering, rather than the usual flowers, card and chocolates, could provide something a little extra special this Mother's Day (March 18th).
This was the option taken by the Sun's Caroline Iggulden, who treated her mum to a weekend of shopping, fine dining and retail therapy in the capital for Mother's Day this year.
"When you are caught in the busy whirlwind of work, it's tempting to pop a card with some flowery words in the post and think: 'Job done'," she wrote in an article for the newspaper.
"But I decided the best gift I could give my mum Maureen was a break away so we could catch up properly."
They kicked the weekend off with a meal and cocktails at Piccadilly's Gaucho Grill on the Friday night and then spent Saturday engaged in a full programme of pampering, including visits to the Nail Inc bar in Debenhams, Oxford Street, and bodycare specialist Rituals in St Christopher's Place for a relaxing hand massage.
The evening was topped off with tickets to a new West End stage production of Ghost.
"Jaw-dropping special effects, tear-jerking power ballads and that potter's wheel scene meant there wasn't a dry eye in the house," said Ms Iggulden.
Their final day was spent enjoying a spot of retail therapy at John Lewis's flagship Oxford Street store, with the assistance of Fiona, a personal stylist.
"After tea and a chat about our body shapes, we were whizzing around the shop floor with a portable clothes rail, watching Fiona picking outfits off the shelves for us."
