Travelling by bike could be the ideal way to discover the alternative sights of London.
Alternative London Tours offers visitors enjoying top hotels in London the chance to take a cycling tour in the east end of the city.
Lasting four hours, the bike tour is conducted at a sedate pace on gentle roads and cycling paths. The route takes in some of the area's canals as well as the Brick Lane area.
The tours are run every Friday and Saturday at 2pm, with the starting and ending point at Old Street. Including bike and helmet hire the tour costs £18 for adults and £15 for concessions and youngsters aged between 13 to 17 years. Booking in advance is essential.
The company also offer the option of a walking tour by guides that showcases the wide range of street art in the area. Each tour lasts two hours and includes around 50 different street pieces. Each trip starts and finishes near Spitalfields Market on Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursday at 1pm and 7pm. There is a weekend option on Saturdays at 12pm and 3pm.
Meanwhile, London has for the second year running been named as the UK's favourite city. The survey of readers of travel magazine Conde Nast Traveller found that the capital offered visitors at wide choice of accommodation, nightlife and top eating options.
