Hyde Park welcomes 2012 Santa Skate
Hyde Park will welcome a number of people dressed in Father Christmas outfits and wearing roller skates this weekend.
On December 15th, visitors staying in central London hotels should consider either watching the action or even taking part – you get to keep the Santa outfit to take home!
Participants are asked to donate £10 to help cover the cost of sound equipment, walkie talkies and the marshal vests for LondonSkate, Sunday Stroll and other London Friday Night Skate events that regularly take place in the capital.
Potential skaters can pick up their festive outfits from between 2pm and 4pm on December 15th at The Monkey Puzzle Pub in Sussex Gardens, while the action begins at 5pm from the Wellington Arch, Hyde Park Corner. Skaters are asked to arrive a little before the start time so they can be advised of the route and safety procedures.
The skate will be overseen by experienced skating marshals, who will be all wearing reindeer outfits so easily identifiable if anyone needs to ask for help. There will also be a London Friday Night Skate Sound Sleigh guiding the skaters on the course around some of London's most famous landmarks.
There will be a quick stop at Trafalgar Square to allow the skaters to catch their break and maybe indulge in a few mince pies before they head of into the night for the remaining hour or so of the skate.
The evening will head with a Christmas party for all the skaters who managed to finish the course and avoid injury.
