Picasso exhibition comes to London

Art lovers enjoying a stay in luxury London hotels may be interested in paying a visit to a new and upcoming exhibition of works by the legendary Spanish artist Pablo Picasso.

Picasso and Modern British Art comes to the Tate Britain on Wednesday February 15th and will last until July 15th.

The exhibition will feature a wide range of art works by the artist and is the first of its kind to examine the impact of Picasso on British life.

In addition, the exhibition will also highlight the various ways in which Picasso's art work had an impact on artistic movements such as British modernism and inspired painters such as Wyndham Lewis, Duncan Grant, Ben Nicholson, David Hockney, Graham Sutherland, Francis Bacon and Henry Moore.

Art lovers will be able to see more that 150 art works on show at the Picasso and Modern British Art exhibition, including more than 60 pieces that were produced by Picasso himself.

A number of notable works will be on show, including Head of a Man with Moustache (1912), Picasso's Man with a Clarinet (1911 - 1912), Weeping Woman (1937) and Francis Bacon's Three Studies for Figures at the Base of a Crucifixion (1944).

The exhibition will also feature a selection of art works produced by David Hockney in homage to Picasso and will highlight the controversy that was ignited when an exhibition of Picasso's work was put on that the Victoria & Albert (V&A) museum in London between 1945 and 1946.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the periods of time Picasso spent in London, during which he worked on designing costumes and scenery for Diaghilev's production of The Three-Cornered Hat.

Picasso's social standing and political status - which was bolstered through the tour of his Guernica painting between 1938 and 1939 and his appearance at the 1950 Peace Congress in Sheffield - will also be considered.
