Treat yourself to a Christmas spa on your London trip
Those staying in the capital during the Christmas season may want to check into spa hotels in London as wellness centres can help people stay in shape, according to the Laboratory Spa & Health Club.
Personal training expert Danny Saunders says that venues equipped with gyms and spas, such as luxury London hotels, can provide ample opportunity to stave off a Christmas treats belly.
"Over the Christmas period not only does your diet change drastically, but people tend to become a little less active and a bit more sedentary," he commented
The expert said that this is a bad combination for those worried about piling on the pounds and that many people eat double the proportion of desserts during winter too.
"Also think of the additional calorie intake from all the mulled wine and brandy over the festive season," he added.
Although not thought of as the culinary capital of Europe by all gastronomics, London has many fine restaurants that will be serving some delicious, but very hearty food now that the mercury has plummeted.
The classic English roast dinner will almost certainly be served up in every pub with a kitchen and that will no doubt be accompanied by festive favourites like mince pies, Christmas pudding and all sorts of tasty treats that stick to your ribs.
Christmas markets will also be serving up plenty of delicious delights throughout the month so if you want to enjoy your food but not worry about your figure then following the advice above while on your stay is probably a good idea.
If relaxing in the spa isn’t for you then you could always be a little adventurous and have a shot on the Boris bikes that are scattered throughout the city.
These offer a great way to see the sights and can help burn off the rich morsels you've been sampling during your stay.
