Tuck in to Harrods' new restaurants

17th January 2012

Romantic London getaways wouldn't be complete without an indulging trip to the city's most luxurious retailers, with guests set to receive a special treat as top shop Harrods has signed deals to bring two new restaurants to its venue.

The iconic store is among the top attractions to those staying at luxury London hotels and has a history of hosting successful pop-up eateries, such as last year's French Laundry by top chef Thomas Keller.

Chefs Chris and Jeff Galvin will be joining peer Richard Corrigan for the new restaurants set to open this March.

The new restaurant, Galvin Demoiselle, promises to be the fifth London site from the Michelin-starred Galvin Restaurants, created in partnership with the iconic Knightsbridge store, according to Cater Search.

Run by Chris' wife Sarah, the eatery will be located in the venue's former Espresso Cafe in the mezzanine space overlooking the famed fruit and vegetable Food Hall.

"We anticipate that most of the customers will be shoppers and we've geared the menu a bit more towards female diners," Ms Galvin explained.

"We're working with our existing suppliers who work together with Harrods, and the menu will be more constant than at our other restaurants."

The menu will consist of French cuisine, including signature dishes from the cooking brothers, such as confit pork cheeks and tarte tatin.

This new project will be joined by Bentley's Sea Grill in the meat and fish section of the food hall by Mr Corrigan.

Bentley's menu will specialise in high quality fish meals, with a crustacean bar and a selection of seafood cocktails.

Paul Goodale, director of restaurants at the retailer, commented: "The launches of Galvin Demoiselle and Bentley's Sea Grill at Harrods make an exciting start to the year, building on the successes of 2011.

"The openings signal our long-term plans to build partnerships with the industry's most respected chefs and to further strengthen our portfolio of 28 restaurants."
